I love these photos. Claxton was my home away from home. Back in the 60's I was on call for surgery 24-7. Inez and Charlie helped me so much. Joan Taylor ran the lab and was a great friend. Iris Eubanks, one of the owners, was my best friend. I miss her so. My husband don denning was head football coach at dublin high. we did love dublin.
I was born here in 1949. Dr. Bell delivered me. I worked there in X-ray 1970-1972 Dr. Gliver and Dr. Campbell were the Radiologists. Dr. Tanner was Surgeon. Close knit group.
I had the privilege of working there in 1974. Being the night shift nurse there sometimes you had to walk from I end of the hospital to the other just to see one patient that was still on the east wing. Those empty halls could get rather spooky sometimes at night. I met a lot of wonderful people there that I wouldn't have gotten to meet at Laurens Memorial Hospital.
I'm reaching out in hopes of, hopefully, finding someone who can help me with some information. This goes back a good ways, but I'm hoping... My husbands mother got sick and was taken to Claxton Hospital, sometime in 1958? They couldn't treat her there, so she was being transported by ambulance to a hospital in Augusta (trauma hospital, maybe?), when the ambulance was in an accident. She apparently did live for a few days, but then passed away. I'm looking for any help/information where I could possibly get copies of something regarding this. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help is much and truly appreciated. Bonnie Jackson
