IMAGES OF OUR PAST - IN TIMES OF TROUBLE YOU CAN ALWAYS TURN TO THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AND THE SALVATION ARMY - DUBLIN, GEORGIA, 1920S

Red Cross Nurses for Camp Dixie - Clinton Division. A group of neighborhood children on Bellevue Avenue Dublin, GA organized in World War I. Front L to R: Ruth Ballard, Mary Ballard,Grace Watkins, Frances Lanier, and Martha Smith. We dug trenches on a vacant lot between the Stubbs home & Watkins home. We named ourselves the Clinton Division, Camp Dixie. A Sargent Clinton from a camp in Macon, GA was a friend of Aunt Nellie Ballards. We would march around the neighborhood and played Red Cross nursing. (E.R.B. 5-16-1974)"
