In most of Earl Stanley Garner's Perry Mason novels and television shows, Perry Mason never won a trial. Although there were a few jury trials, most shows featured a preliminary hearing where the true killer confessed at the end of the show. The frustrated District Attorney Hamilton Burger or substitute prosecutors never convicted any of Mason's clients.
All of those prosecutors were men. In the first of the Perry Mason movies which premiered in December 1985, the face of the prosecutor changed.
Dublin's Cassie Yates, played the role of "Barbara Scott," the first female prosecutor to face the venerable Perry Mason. To make things interesting, the defendant was Mason's long time secretary Della Street.
Alas, District Attorney Scott lost to Mason too, but then again, they all did.
