THE ET CETERA CHRONICLES - THE REV. GEORGE C. THOMPSON

The Rev. George Thompson served in Methodist churches in Dublin and the surrounding area for nearly three decades.  His other day job was as an architect designing churches, courthouses, cities and schools, including many in Dublin.  On this day in 1909 it was announced that Rev. Thompson had designed the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Atlanta located at the intersection of Peachtree Center (formerly Ivey) and Auburn Avneue.

The site today in the middle right across from the International Peace Fountain.

Thompson Street, which intersects Bellevue Avenue at the Chamber of Commerce, is named in honor of Rev. Thompson.
