THE ET CETERA CHRONICLES - SECRETARY JOHN W. BURKE

On February 8, 1918,  Treasurer of the United States, the Honorable John Burke, spoke to a large group of businessmen, bankers and interested citizens at the Bertha Theater, then located at the southeast corner of the courthouse square.



Burke served as the 10th governor of North Dakota and a member of the United States House of Representatives and Senate from North Dakota.  Secretary Burke served as U.S. Treasurer from 1913 to 1921.  An attorney, Burke, was a member of the North Dakota Supreme Court from 1924 until his death in 1937.
