IMAGES OF OUR PAST - KEWANEE PEACH ORCHARD, CA. 1898, KEWANEE, GA., LAURENS COUNTY

This photo shows one of the peach orchards at Kewanee, south of Dudley on the Dexter Road.  The orchards were developed by an Illinois Company in conjunction with John M. Stubbs of Dublin.  Small tracts were sold, mostly to northern investors.  Devastating cold weather of the late 1890s destroyed the trees and the project failed.
