MY THOSE ARE SOME DARK CLOUDS - Those who had not read the newspapers or recognized what was really happening must have thought how dark the skies were getting on the afternoon of April 7, 1940. High winds roared through the county. A half-inch rainfall followed. The sky was extremely dark - too dark for a rainy day. The darkness came from a near total eclipse of the sun which was hidden from view by the rain clouds.
