THE ET CETERA CHRONICLES - THE MORE THAN PERFECT GAME

THE MORE THAN PERFECT GAME -  I the summer of 1973,  the unthinkable and unbelievable happened in a Dublin Little League game at Little Hilburn Park.   In a regulation five-inning game, pitcher Mark Trollinger, with a sweeping, wicked left handed curve ball,  faced the minimum 15 batters.  Now perfect games have been pitched in Dublin and Laurens County.  I know, I coached the winning team in the last one ever thrown next door in Big Hilburn Park in 2003.

What was even more unbelievable about Trollinger's perfect outing was that he struck out all fifteen batters, allowing only a few foul balls.

I know. I was there. I watched nervously as my brother Henry was Trollinger's battery mate.

How about that!
