IMAGES OF OUR PAST - STEVE BARBER AND JASHA BALCOM

As the Cubs face the Washington Nationals in tonight final game of the NL Division playoffs, let's take a look at two former Dublin residents who played with the Cubs organization.

Steve Barber pitched for the Dublin Orioles in 1958.  He was managed by legendary and Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver.  Barber pitched in the majors for nearly 15 years with the Orioles, Braves, Yankees, Pilots, Brewers and Angels.   In his prime, Barber was one of the best left handers in the American League.

Jasha Balcom was a star outfielder and hitter for the Dublin Irish in the late 1990s.  He went on to play college baseball at Georgia and played well in several minor league seasons with the Cubs.  Balcom did play in several exhibition games with the big league team.
