IMAGES OF OUR PAST - THE LOWER UCHEE TRAIL. THIS ANCIENT ROAD RUNS FROM HAWKINSVILLE, THROUGH COCHRAN, CROSSING HIGHWAY 80 WHERE HIGHWAY 26 TURNS, ALONG BLACKSHEAR'S FERRY ROAD, CROSSING THE OCONEE RIVER, JUST NORTH OF THE COUNTRY CLUB AND RUNNING ALONG BEN HALL LAKE ROAD INTO JOHNSON COUNTY AND ON TO AUGUSTA. This trail was used for thousands of years. The picture here shows a small portion of the road which is yet unpaved and is east of Thundering Springs.
