THE ET CETERA CHRONICLES - HUGH P. THOMPSON

This week, the State Bar of Georgia honored one of its finest members, Chief Justice Hugh P.  Thompson.  This Milledgeville-born jurist has roots which go back more than 200 years into the western extremities of Emanuel County.

As one of many successful descents of Reuben and Rachel Thompson, whose allied families include the Flanders, Keys, and Beasleys among others, Chief Justice Thompson was awarded the Distinguished Service Award.

Thompson has served as Judge of the Ocmulgee Superior Court Circuit, including Baldwin and Wilkinson Counties.   A two term as a President of the Georgia Council of Superior Court Judges and terms as the Judge of Milledgeville City Court and Baldwin County Court can be found on his long and distinguished resume.

Justice Thompson served for 22 years on the Georgia Supreme Court from 1994 to 2016, the last four years as Chief Justice.
