From the late 1930s to the early 1960s, Wallace Butts, of Milledgeville was the greatest of all University of Georgia Bulldog Coaches.

In 1930 while teaching during the school year,  Wally Butts signed a contract to play baseball for Dublin's semi-pro team.

Butts played in two games and tragically messed up his knee in a season ending injury in the Dublin team's second game of the season.
