NPR reported last August that the wreckage of the USS Indianapolis has been located. The Indianapolis was sunk on July 30, 1945, just one week before the first atomic bomb was dropped on Japan. Aboard the doomed ship was Leonard Woods of Wrightsville, Georgia, who remained at radio post as long as he could.
