BORN IN LOUISVILLE, GEORGIA, 1812 UNITED STATES SENATOR, 18448-1849, GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA 1853-1857, CSA SENATOR - 1863-1865. NAMESAKE OF JOHNSON COUNTY. ONE OF THE ONLY LIVING PEOPLE TO HAVE A GEORGIA COUNTY NAME FOR HIM;. FROM 1873-1880, JOHNSON WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN GEORGIA HISTORY TO SERVE AS A SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE IN A COUNTY NAMED FOR HIM. HE DIED IN 1880.
