Soul Singer Joe Tex performed in concert in Dublin, Georgia on the night after Christmas in 1966. The concert was sponsored under the auspices of American Legion Post 573. The promoters of the event were Leon A. May and Willie Beard. Tex's most famous song was "I Gotcha!." The song reached #1 on the R&B Charts and #2 on the pop charts in 1972. Tex and his manager Phil Walden were paid $1500.00 that night.
