PLAN UNFULFILLED
The December 21, 1916 issue of the Monitor reported the plan of the members of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church to erect a new church on Bellevue Avenue.
The plan, which would cost $25,000.00, was to build the church, not on its present location at 511 Bellevue Avenue, but at the corner of Bellevue Avenue and North Church streets across the street from the First Baptist Church. A fund-raising dinner, which raised $6000.00, was held at the Colonial Hotel on East Jackson Street.
