Ray Prosperi, of Dublin, Georgia, was a promising throwing and passing quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs in the 1946. Leading the team was John Rauch and Charley Trippi, like Prosperi, were highly sought after recruits from western Pennsylvania. Prosperi was on the sidelines for one of the greatest Georgia bowl victories.
Ray went on to play in the Gator, Orange, and Presidential Cup Bowls
The 1947 Sugar Bowl featured the 3rd ranked Bulldogs against the 10th ranked North Carolina Heels, led by legendary Running Back, Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice. Georgia doubled North Carolina's score with a hard fought 20-10 victory.
