PIECES OF OUR PAST - A GREAT, GREAT, GREAT GRANDSON OF A LAURENS COUNTY COUPLE MAKES HISTORY

 GREAT, GREAT, GREAT GRANDPARENTS OF A BULLDOG LEGEND - You might know of the connection of Jake Fromm, a great Georgia Bulldog quarterback, and his very close ties to Laurens County. You may not know that Fromm’s successor, Stetson Bennett, IV, also has ties, albeit distant, to Laurens County.  William Riley Bennett (1860-1933,) and Oceanna Harper Bennett(1862-1924,) the grandparents of  Stetson Bennett, Sr., lived on their rented farm on the Oconee/Old Buckeye Road in the Buckeye District of Laurens County, Georgia from 1910 or before to 1933. The Bennetts rest in peace in the old Marvin Methodist Church on the New Buckeye Road.  Ancestry.com
