THE ET CETERA CHRONICLES - LITTLE NEW YORK

I DIDN’T KNOW NEW YORK WAS IN LAURENS COUNTY  Today it is nothing more than an empty spot nearby a  nearly forgotten dirt crossroads in a virtual wilderness of pines.  Back in the depression era,  that was not the case.  "Til" Holliday operated a store at the crossroads.  Holliday's business was so good that the roads were filled with cars.  Area residents gave the crossroads the nickname of "Little New York.”  To get to Little New York, go down Highway 19 (The Glenwood Road).  After you cross Turkey Creek turn right on the Greg Couey Road (the old Hudson Road) and follow it to its intersection with the Little New York Road in Land Lot 175 of the 12th Land District.  Holiday's store was just west of the crossroads.
